On Monday July 23, 2001, Dan Allen, a licensed archaeologist, was hired and paid for by the Moses Steele Cemetery Fund. The survey took about 5 hours , starting about 8am and finishing about 1pm. An additional 100 graves were discovered and marked, including 15 unmarked baby graves. The thought on this was that they died in the mid 1800 flu and typhoid fever epidemic. Their names will probably never be discovered, but we will try and make sure that they will always be remembered.

Kenny Anderson Sr.: 3rd Great-Grand-Son of Laban Hartley and Bennett Hargrove
Dorthy Edmonson: Part owner of the land that surrounds the cemetery

The measurments on the cemetery, as could be determined by the old plow lines that surround the Moses Steele Cemetery, are:
150 feet wide East & West
184 feet long North & South
It begins 82 feet from the center line of Flat Creek Road. The county has a 25ft right-away from the center line of the road, that leaves a strip of land 150ft long east to west and 57ft wide north to south on the Edmonson property. The actual measurments on the Edmonson property would be less because of the curviture of the Flat Creek Road .
